There’s a new cafe on the block...

the Rock Block, that is.

The former Cafe Coco space has a new life as Verna Cafe & Bar, a locally owned spot that’s gradually rolling out its full menu. The eatery opens for full service on Friday, Sept. 5, but for now you can stop in for sips and daytime bites — just be sure to keep up with the temporary hours. Here are some caffeinated options:
  • Banana Puddin’ Latte (made with banana pudding milk)
  • I’m the Problem (matcha, cornbread milk, and strawberry)
  • Yoo-hoo Espresso Martini (served at Connie’s — more on that below)
Pair them with baby cakes (a gluten-free pancake-muffin hybrid) and other dishes from the Sunrise menu. When dinner launches, expect everything from a crab rangoon melt + Spam and rice to seasonal affogatos for dessert.

Just as you can start your day at Verna, you can cap it off at its sister concept, Connie’s. The late-night hangout in the back serves hot dogs and cocktails.
