Looking for a place to play with the kiddos this summer or to decompress with some off-screen time? Grab your shades and trusty water bottle — here are some of Music City’s best parks:

Scenic parks

Shelby Park & Bottoms
Visit the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center for a ranger-led program or get your hands dirty at the Nature Play area. Then, head out to explore more than 900 acres of open fields, forests, wetlands, and Cornelia Fort Airpark.

Riverfront Park
Located steps away from Broadway, this green space hugs the edge of the Cumberland River along 1st Avenue. It’s also the site of recurring events such as Canine Connection (Riverfront Dog Park) and the new Downtown Nashville Markers’ Market (under the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge).

Sporty spots

Two Rivers Skate Park
As you can imagine, this park equipped with ramps is suited for skateboarders, in-line skaters, BMX bikes, and non-motorized scooters.

Sevier Park

News Notes

Open

The Horn opened a second location, this time near Vanderbilt at 2059 Scarritt Pl. The cafe, which has operated on Murfreesboro Pike for over a decade, serves chai, coffee, and sambusas, along with Dubai chocolate offerings when available. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this week.

Coming Soon

Canadian restaurant chain Moxies will open its largest location yet at downtown’s Peabody Union. The nearly 18,000-sqft space includes a two-story dining area, patio seating, and a 1,100-sqft jewel box space overlooking the river. Expect a variety of salads, sandwiches, steaks, and pastas.

Drink

Attaboy and Lakeside Lounge partner Brandon Bramhall plans to open a new bar at 601 Hagan, a food + retail development coming to Wedgewood-Houston. Not many details are known yet, as the concept isn’t expected to open until 2027, but those involved said the space is reminiscent of Attaboy. (Nashville Business Journal)

Development

The former Decca Records building on Music Row is set to be demolished. A new three-story building will rise in its place and house Position Music + multiple recording studios. (Nashville Post)

Plan Ahead

Disney on Ice returns to Bridgestone Arena this fall, and you may want to brush up on “Let It Go” and “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” That’s because this year’s production (Thursday, Sept. 25-Sunday, Sept. 28) features characters from “Frozen” and “Encanto.” Tickets go on sale Tuesday, May 20.

Number

$1,300. That’s how much money per year you could be wasting overpaying on car insurance, according to a 2024 survey. See if you’re overspending.*
