It began as a Kickstarter in April 2016, raising $32,480 in 30 days. Today, Third Coast Comedy Club remains Nashville’s only venue dedicated to improv comedy.

In the spirit of quick thinking, we asked Third Coast Comedy Club pros to share their best (or worst) Nashville-themed jokes with us.
  • “Remember, it’s not illegal to Venmo request the bride-to-be that cut you off on I-40.” — Bill Hillsman, Third Coast Training Center teacher and improviser, The Third Coast Comedy Show
  • “Nashville is the only place where your bartender, Uber driver, and barista all have the same debut album dropping next week.” — Miriam Kirk, comedian and host of Roast the Host
  • “Some of the greatest performers got their start in Nashville - Dolly Parton... Taylor Swift... Bob from improv class.” — Dave Strumfeld, musician and improviser, The Third Coast Comedy Show

Development

🏗️ Coming around The Bend

Three multi-story buildings sit in a triangle space surrounded on all sides by roadway. One building says Moxy and has a rooftop pool. Another building next to it also has a rooftop pool. Sidewalks surrounding the building lead into a community area connecting the three buildings in the middle.

Four years after the first phase was completed and nearly a year since we shared initial renderings of phase two, The Bend at Capitol District is seeing movement on James Robertson Parkway.

In addition to the 8-story, 188-room Moxy hotel building, a 10-story residential tower will combine Marriott Bonvoy executive stay units (The Delle at The Bend) and rentable apartments (The Residences at The Bend).

A groundbreaking for this phase, which totals 550,000 sqft, is set for later this month. At the time of its completion in fall 2026, a paseo connecting the two buildings will offer 17,000 sqft of retail.

For additional updates as work progresses, follow the mixed-use district on Instagram.
