Nobody does a meat-and-three quite like Music City.
In fact, legend has it the concept may have its roots in Nashville — though its exact origins are unknown. One of the earliest local examples is the now-closed Hap Townes Restaurant.
We’ve created a map of 20+ spots around town to satisfy your craving at the button below, but first, here’s what a couple of our readers had to say:
“You pull up and think you might accidentally be at someone’s house, then you order the poppyseed chicken with field peas from Barbara’s Home Cooking and have yourself one of the best home-cooked meals you’ve ever had.” — Paul R.
Check the board for daily breakfast and lunch specials. Deb M. recommends the chicken with jalapeno-orange marmalade, but it’s also available with chipotle raspberry, jerk, or adobo.

It’s getting REAL
Starting May 7, you’ll need a REAL ID or a valid passport to fly within the US. | Photo via Nashville International Airport
After years of delayed deadlines, the official date to obtain a REAL ID is coming up on May 7, 2025.
Why do I need one?
You’ll need a REAL ID if you plan to fly domestically or enter secure federal or military facilities starting May 7. If you don’t have one by that time, you’ll still be able to vote, drive, apply for benefits, purchase alcohol or cigarettes, and access federal courts with a standard state license.
Take this 30-second quiz to find out if you need a REAL ID.
How can I get one?
If you currently have a Tennessee driver’s license or ID, you can apply for a REAL ID at a Driver Services Center or the Davidson County Clerk.
Make sure to bring the following(originals, not copies):
Le Creuset’s Signature Round Dutch Oven in the color Berry. In case you haven’t heard the news, this popular hue is back after being discontinued in 2019 — and the internet is freaking out. It’s also available in the Signature Oval Dutch Oven. Grab it before it’s gone again.
Free access to attractions. Do I have your attention? If you join the Zoo Run Run at the Nashville Zoo on March 1, you can enjoy the Soaring Eagle Zip Line, the carousel, and the Chick-fil-A Adventure 4D Theater before and after the race. Sign up now.
