Monday, Jan. 20 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Nashville organizations are hosting events, volunteer opportunities, and celebrations of life.
Annual Nashville MLK Day events are underway, including presentations, a youth symposium, a march along Jefferson Street, and a convocation at TSU’s Gentry Center. Author and professor Dr. Daniel Black is this year’s keynote speaker.

Donate your time
MLK Joint Day of Service, the day of volunteering for students, faculty, and staff at Nashville-area colleges, begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Opening
It’s official. Daddy’s Dogs founder Sean Porter’s newest concept, Gramp’s Garage, opens its doors at 2913 Gallatin Pk. on Saturday, Jan. 18. As of now, few details exist beyond the initial announcement made over the summer. (Nashville Scene)
Closing
Eight years after Midtown’s Hopsmith Tavern opened its doors, it will host its final day of service on Sunday, Jan. 19. The bar and restaurant announced the news in an Instagram post, sharing there will be a two-for-one special on all beer, wine, and liquor from now until closing day.

The Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville is celebrating 35 years when it returns to Music City Center the weekend of Jan. 31.
