Nashville never had a Beatles arrival like this — or any at all — but the bandmates made their way to Music City on their own. | Photo via United Press International via Wikimedia Commons
As The Beatles once sang, “All you need is love.” But it turns out, they needed a little Nashville, too. As Ringo Starr prepares for two nights at Ryman Auditorium (Jan. 14-15), we’re exploring a few Music City connections to the Fab Four.
Ringo’s country albums
Starr’s solo discography is nearly bookended by Nashville, with “Beaucoups of Blues” (1970) and his latest release, “Look Up,” both recorded here. The former featured local session musicians, while the latter, produced by T Bone Burnett, boasts contributions from Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, and Alison Krauss.
Paul McCartney’s summer in Lebanon
In 1974, McCartney, his family, and his Wings bandmates spent six weeks on a Wilson County farm. When they weren’t recording “Junior’s Farm” and “Sally G,” they explored local spots like Opryland, The Loveless Motel, and Printers Alley.
“I rather fancy the place (Nashville),” McCartney told the Nashville Banner upon his arrival. “It’s a musical center. I’ve just heard so much about it that I wanted to see for myself.”

Nashville’s Nations neighborhood has a new spot where everything is, well, perfectly fine.
Founded by a team of local hospitality pros, Perfectly Fine is a casual cocktail bar and kitchen operating daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. at 1105 51st Ave. N. The doors officially swing open today, Jan. 14, so here’s a preview of what to expect:
The food
Chef Jeff Roscoe (5th & Taylor, E3 Chophouse, and Bourbon Steak) crafted a menu featuring plates such as fried truffle mac and cheese sticks with vodka sauce and a shaved ribeye sandwich with whiskey au jus.
The space
Expect a low-lit interior with oversized booths, vintage furniture sourced by the team, and a free-to-play billiard table. The venue also features a fully enclosed patio and an outdoor yard area.
