Just in time for patio season

The Nations’ former Harding House Brewing Co. space has a new tenant — but it’s a familiar face. Stay Golden, a combination restaurant and coffee shop, is officially open at 904 51st Ave. N.

A patio with tree shading and string lights overhead. Three tables with blue chairs line one side of the patio with ~five pink picnic tables on the other.

The biz bid its Sidco Drive cafe farewell earlier this month, a location it operated from since its opening in August 2018. Now, you can post up (laptop in hand if you work from home like us) at one of ~20 indoor tables, or opt for picnic table seating outdoors.

Visit daily from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., but expect a limited menu at first. Need a rec? We dug into the breakfast tacos and sipped on an iced brandy vanilla latte yesterday. If that passes your taste test, explore a founding membership (pssst — it’s only available until Tuesday, Oct. 1). Perks include 12 months of unlimited filter coffee, espresso, and specialty coffee, a 10% discount, an exclusive launch party invite + more.

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with Stay Golden, the gem serves Good Citizen Coffee Co. — plus, you can still find some of your boozy favorites on-site soon. The prosecco bar, coffee cocktails, beer, and wine selection is on its way. Pour over your options.

From commuting tips to local humor, we’ve compiled tips, tricks, and fun memories we share as locals who know the ins and outs of the city. Consider this your official list of unofficial Nashville rules.

The unspoken rules everyone knows

“We leave VIPs alone to enjoy their privacy when they are shopping or dining locally in one of Nashville’s fine restaurants, boutiques, or malls.” — @cathybaughn

“A forecast for flurries means measurable snow. A forecast for measurable snow means cold rain.” — u/skandalouslsu (And you should probably keep your favorite shorts on hand for the winter months, right?)

We’ve learned a thing or two from commuting

“We give people a breath before honking at a red light. A long, slow breath.” — @lynnvincent575

“If you decide to live in Green Hills, move somewhere else from Thanksgiving to New Year’s.” — Anonymous

What did we miss? If you know an unofficial rule that’s not on the list, let us know.

Yesterday, we asked “How cold is the ice when the puck drops at Bridgestone Arena?”

We don’t mean to be cold, but most of you got the answer incorrect. It’s 22°, which 39.8% of respondents guessed. Here’s how the results stacked up:

41.5% | 28°
12.7% | 15°
5.9% | 32°

According to Senior Director of Ice Operations Nigel Schnarr, “If you get it too warm, like 24°-25°, then the players are going to feel like they’re kind of sinking into the ice.”
