Meet the Airbnb of boating

Meet Getmyboat: the Airbnb of boating

Pro tip: Check for rental minimums and any required safety certifications or licenses before making reservations. | Photo via Getmyboat
You know how the saying goes: “A friend with a boat is better than owning a boat.”

Skip the friend part and get straight to enjoying a day on the water with Getmyboat, an Airbnb-like service that lets you rent boats from locals and organizations in the area.

How it works

The boat rental company serves various US cities, including the Nashville area. To get started, create an account and search for the watercraft that best suits your needs for the day (think: anything from pontoons to yachts).

You can cater your search to exactly what you’re looking for — trips under $300, captained boats, jet skis, and more — or you can just browse what’s available.

40-ft Sea Ray 400 | Percy Priest | $175/hour

You and 11 of your closest friends can beat the heat in this luxury boat’s air-conditioned cabin. Bonus: The base cost includes a captain.

24-ft Tritoon | Old Hickory | $100-$115/hour

On a pontoooon tritoooon. If floatin’ is all you wanna do, this boat comes equipped with a paddle board, splash pad, and tube at no added cost.

23-ft Key West | Percy Priest | $120/hour

Your captain, Jason, has 45 years of experience on Middle Tennessee waterways and specializes in fishing charters for stripers, hybrid, bass, and crappie.

23-ft Wakeboat | Percy Priest and Old Hickory | $190/hour

Really hone in on your watersports skills during this six-hour minimum excursion with a captain who’s licensed, medically-trained, and a local firefighter.

None of these float your boat? Check out the other rental options available in the Nashville area.

Nominate your favorite big tree in Nashville’s annual contest

Tree-rific news. You still have time to participate in Nashville Tree Foundation’s 2024 Big Old Tree Contest.

Nominations are considered across seven categories, from biggest overall to “story” trees. It’s possible your favorite tree is already a winner as the contest dates back to 1988 — in that case, it cannot be submitted again.

How to enter

Any Davidson County tree can be nominated, whether it be on public or private property — the owner’s permission is suggested but not required. Make note of the address at which the tree is located and snap a photo for the entry form.

Next, use these tips for measuring the circumference, height, and crown spread of the tree. No need to pine for perfection — Nashville Tree Foundation’s tree experts will remeasure trees for accuracy.

Submit a tree online using this form by Wednesday, Aug. 28. Looking for some tree inspiration? See past winners, including the 75 winning trees from the 2022 contest.
