If you’re not from Nashville, ask a question. If you’re from Nashville, answer one.

We posted that prompt on NASHtoday’s Instagram, and folks from near and far didn’t disappoint. Whether it was our friends down in Texas, or newcomers looking to love on local, these are some answers to FAQs from out-of-towners.

“Where are all of the locals going out on a Friday/Saturday night?!” — @laurenbarnaba

With 60+ answers, East Nashville gems had a large fan club — which we’re a part of as well. Some businesses mentioned include Golden Pony and Honeytree Meadery.

“Where can I go to hear live R&B or jazz music?” — @iamjohnjo

Our followers were rooting for Rudy’s Jazz Room, which was name dropped a few times. Soul, Papa Turney’s BBQ, and the Nashville Jazz Workshop’s Jazz Cave were also suggested.

“When’s the best time to visit Nashville?” — @satxtoday

Say hello to our good friends in Texas. The top recommendation for vising Nashville was the fall season. What’s not to love about scenic drives along Natchez Trace Parkway and lots of outdoor festivals?

“Best rooftop to watch the 4th of July fireworks from?” — @lilmisskadee

We’ll have more on this next week, but most commenters agreed that new spot AVA Rooftop Bar will have great views. Away from downtown, @_sophiechristine_ enjoys the peacefulness at the top of the hill at Shelby Park.

“Where are the best mocktails?” — @kaylison___

This one was all over the board, but that just means you have options. Tailor, Attaboy, International Market, Bay 6 at The Wash, and Pushing Daisies were all offered. Plus, attend booze-free events at Killjoy.

Bonus: we’ve already written the ultimate guide to a few other questions that were asked.

News Notes
Development
  • It’s official: Dolly Parton’s working 9 to 5 on her future downtown Nashville hotel. Songteller Hotel will debut in the coming years at the corner of 3rd and Commerce and feature a museum. In other new ventures, she also shared that “Hello, I’m Dolly,” a new Broadway musical, will hit the stage in 2026.
Coming Soon
  • Bravo’s “Southern Charm” star Craig Conover is opening his concept, Sewing Down South, in 12 South (2306 12th Ave. S.) this month. This will be the second location for the Charleston-based biz, which sells decorative pillows. (The Tennessean)
Biz
  • Germantown’s Buds & Brews is growing. The cannabis bar and restaurant will host a soft opening of its new East Nashville location (1024 Woodland St.) in mid-June, with a grand opening celebration scheduled for Saturday, June 29. An outdoor beer garden will also offer 40+ beers on tap.
Ranked
  • If you needed confirmation, plenty of people are still moving to Nashville based on a recent study by PODS. Down two spots in 2023, Nashville still ranked No. 13 for cities with the highest number of move-ins. The company notes Tennessee’s four-season weather, lack of state income tax, music, and median age as possible reasons behind the draw.
Answered
  • Yesterday, we asked you: Which member of The Beatles received the MHOFM’s first-ever Joe Chambers Award? Despite Paul McCartney’s edge with the majority of votes (~33%), Ringo Starr was the correct response. Starr was inducted in a private ceremony on Sept. 24 last year, prior to a sold-out show at the Ryman.
