If you find yourself longing for the carefree days of summer camp, we have a solution that doesn’t involve packing a bag or pitching a tent. Channel your inner camper and relive those nostalgic memories at the following local events.

Ernest Day | Saturday, June 8 | 2-10 p.m. | Montgomery Bell State Park | Free
  • Travel ~35 miles west of downtown for the state park’s annual celebration of the 1987 movie “Ernest Goes to Camp,” which was filmed onsite and starred the late Jim Varney. Expect camp-themed activities before the 8:30 p.m. screening, including archery, canoeing, turtle catapulting (don’t worry, no turtles will be harmed), and a Q+A with “Ernest” actors.

  • Beep, beep. Germantown’s Surefire Coffee Co. parked a new airstream in East Nashville at 1102 McKennie Ave. near The Wash. The location is open daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Civic
  • Nashville residents are invited to speak at tonight’s public hearing (June 4, 6:30 p.m.) on the annual operating and capital improvements budgets. Sign-ups are not required + each person has two minutes to speak. Attend the meeting at the Historic Courthouse or tune in virtually.
Concert
  • Nashville just wants to have fun — and so does Cyndi Lauper on her farewell tour, which makes a stop at Bridgestone Arena on Friday, Nov. 1. The artist plans to announce special guests at a later date. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 7.
