There’s much to explore in Nashville’s vibrant art scene as you wander through galleries filled with local, regional, and international works.

We’ve compiled this list of current and upcoming art exhibitions — categorized by museum — to put on your calendar, as well as forthcoming art sales. Note: This list is not comprehensive, and it’s possible new exhibitions will be announced as the year goes on.

  • Lee Alexander McQueen & Ann Ray: Rendez-Vous | May 30-Aug. 25 | 65 photos selected by photographer Ann Ray, 50+ dress objects spanning McQueen’s career, and 10 gifted garments from Ray’s wardrobe
  • Shahpour Pouyan: Winter in Paradise | May 30-Aug. 25 | Drawings and ceramic sculptures, as well as Pouyan’s first VR installation
  • ¡Printing the Revolution! | June 28–Sept. 29 | 119 works ranging from traditional screen prints and digital graphics to augmented reality pieces and site-specific installations
  • Journey through Japan: Myths to Manga | Oct. 25–Feb. 16, 2025 | Designed with the Frist’s younger audience in mind, this all-ages exhibit offers a colorful, atmospheric exploration divided into four thematic sections — Sky, Sea, Forest, and City.

Closing
  • Furniture retailer Bliss Home is closing its Nashville store at 2711 8th Ave. S. A liquidation sale is underway with updates posted to the shop’s Facebook page. The store is expected to remain open until all inventory is sold. (The Tennessean)
Opening
  • Blue Sushi Sake Grill opens at McEwen Northside in Franklin on Monday, March 25. The sushi concept, which has one other Nashville area location at Fifth + Broadway, offers shareable plates, daily happy hour specials, and 15+ vegan sushi rolls.
Concert
  • The Avett Brothers extended their upcoming tour, adding a stop at Franklin’s FirstBank Amphitheater on Friday, Sept. 13 with special guest Melissa Etheridge. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 22.
Announced
  • No. 12 Vanderbilt women’s basketball will play in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade, taking on No. 12 Columbia in a First Four contest in Blacksburg, Virginia. No. 11 MTSU women’s basketball will take on No. 6 Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Sports
  • The Nashville Sounds announced ballpark upgrades ahead of the 2024 season. Among the enhancements are extended netting, a new LED field lighting system, Coors Light Home Run Porch improvements, and new lounge furniture and games at The Band Box.
