Get ready for more retail and dining options in 12 South. | Rendering via Ashwood 12 South
It’s a new year, and that means new developments are wrapping up construction around Music City, from hotels in the downtown core to mixed-use spaces in the Gulch, 12 South, and beyond. We’ve rounded up a few projects slated for completion in 2024.
Psst… This list isn’t meant to be comprehensive. If there is a construction project you would like to learn more about, let us know. Note: The projected opening dates below are subject to change.
The development is situated at the north end of the 12 South shopping district and will offer ~117,000 sqft of retail and office space. While we await future tenant announcements, plan to dine at restaurants like Two Hands and Sushi-san when Ashwood opens in late 2024.
Arriving in the Gulch later this year, the residential tower will feature 502 units, 82,000 sqft of retail space, and a parking garage + a pool, fitness space, coworking area, and other amenities.

I can officially cross “dentist” off my list of needs for myself and my family this year. | Photo by NASHtoday
NASH team member Emily here. I moved to Middle Tennessee over a year ago and one of my biggest stressors is finding doctors I trust for my family. New patient waitlists can be 4+ months long and what happens when you finally meet them and they don’t quite fit? (Why isn’t “speed dating” for doctors a thing?)
So when the opportunity came about to get an inside look at Brentwood Dental Arts, I was quick to jump on the opportunity.
Here’s what I discovered:
✅ Making the appointment
Not only does Dr. Ian Mort have timely appointments available for new patients, the private practice also leaves space for other dental services and emergencies, current patient or not.
✅ A dentist that feels like family
From the x-rays to the teeth cleaning and examination, my hygienist Nettie and Dr. Mort spent time getting to know me + answering my questions — theyblock out 1.5 hours for all new patient exams, just in case. For those nervous about dental work, the team does a great job keeping you at ease.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of Middle Tennessee, including Davidson County, from 12 p.m. today, Jan. 18 until 9 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 19. Light accumulations of freezing rain and snow are expected.
