With a new year comes thousands of new events — but before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s jump into January.

Nashville Dance Fest | Friday, Jan. 26-Sunday, Jan. 28 | 10 a.m.-11 p.m. | Locations vary | $10+ | Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner, this new country festival offers three days of partner and line dancing workshops, technique classes, competitions, and concerts.

Announcement
  • Another museum is landing downtown by spring 2025. The Dove Center by the Gospel Music Association will occupy a space previously housing The Well (147 4th Ave. N.) and offer a theater, interactive spaces, a walk-through timeline of the gospel music industry, and more. Take a look.
Development
  • War Memorial Auditorium is in the midst of a $106 million upgrade, which will improve mechanics, accessibility, and restrooms by summer 2026. The 7th Avenue northbound lane, Legislative Plaza garage, and the tunnel connecting the plaza to the Capitol are closed. (Nashville Post)
Traffic
  • A portion of 2nd Avenue between Church Street and Broadway entered a year-long closure yesterday. Vehicles traveling north will encounter a detour onto Demonbreun Street toward 1st or 3rd Avenue. A pedestrian crosswalk allows foot traffic. (WZTV)
Biz
  • Permits indicate a Postino will take the 12 South spot formerly home to Taqueria Del Sol. The wine bar offers light snacks, boards, and salads, as well as a brunch and wine club service. Take a peek at renderings.
Kids
  • Visit Adventure Science Center on Thursdays in January and February to receive half-off youth admission (ages 2-12). Bonus: You can also expect monthly themes featuring new activities, programming, and demonstrations. January kicks off with “Fire & Ice.”
Festival
  • Nashville was tapped to host the Premier League Mornings Live fan festival on Saturday, April 6 + Sunday, April 7. The free event on Broadway and at Riverfront Park will welcome the NBC Sports’ studio team and feature the Premier League trophy, club mascots, and interactive family-friendly activities.

What’s coming
  • Shake Shack | Tanger Outlets Nashville | The fast-casual chain serving burgers, fries, and shakes opened its fifth Tennessee location.
  • Sip Sobro | 523 4th Ave. S. | Expect 60 taps from this just opened downtown beer garden, plus coffee and espresso served all day. Bonus: Dogs and outside food are welcome.
  • A-ROI by Smiley Thai | 2700 Clifton Ave. | Indulge in sushi, noodle dishes, and more when the restaurant hosts its soft opening beginning Monday, Jan. 8.
What’s closing
  • McCabe Pub | 4410 Murphy Rd. | The Sylvan Park staple closes this month after 41 years in business.
  • REVV | Fifth + Broadway | The downtown women’s clothing boutique closed just before the new year.
  • Wildhorse Saloon | 120 2nd Ave. N. | The longtime line dancing and music venue closed its doors to make way for a new honky tonk by Luke Combs.
