Set your alarms early on Saturday — Record Store Day returns April 22. The special day for vinyl lovers and collectors occurs twice a year: once in the spring and again on Black Friday. Both times, musicians release special edition records in limited quantities.

We’ve rounded up six participating record stores below.

Grimey’s New & Preloved Music, 1060 E. Trinity Ln.

What to expect: Grimey’s opens early at 10 a.m. and will be serving up RSD titles via its “menu ordering system” at the back entrance. Grab breakfast or lunch from The Secret Bodega next door at Living Waters Brewing, plus enjoy music from WNXA DJs in the record store from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Groove, 1103 Calvin Ave.

What to expect: The celebration begins at 9 a.m. with RSD releases, food and drink vendors, and a charity auction. Acme Radio Live will be onsite with a stacked lineup of local artists.

The Great Escape Nashville, Locations vary

What to expect: All locations — West Nashville, Madison, and Murfreesboro — open four hours early at 8 a.m. with a large selection of RSD releases and in-store specials. Arrive early for poster, button, and tote bag giveaways.

McKay’s, 636 Old Hickory Blvd.

What to expect: McKay’s opens at 9 a.m. and will have exclusive releases on top of its regular vinyl inventory (25,000+ on any given day). A limited-edition RSD poster will be available while supplies last.

Vinyl Tap, 2038 Greenwood Ave.

What to expect: Stop by the record store and bar’s Record Store Day party from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. for exclusive releases, food, live music, family-friendly activities, and a market curated by Be Good Market.

Swaggie Records, 211 Union St.

What to expect: This downtown record store (located in The Stahlman building) will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pro tip: Whether you’re a Swiftie trying to score the new “folklore: the long pond studio sessions” LP or you’re searching for special releases from Dolly Parton, Pearl Jam, or Elton John, the 2023 RSD selection varies at each store — arrive early and prepare to wait in line.

Yesterday we asked “Which Lower Broadway honky tonk now resides in the space formerly home to Bettie Page Clothing?”

‘Queen of Pinups:' Bettie Page set to receive Nashville historical marker

Although the majority of readers guessed Ole Red, the correct answer is Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row.

Bettie Page Clothing opened in summer 2013 at 400 Broadway in the space formerly home to Gruhn Guitars — now Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row. Though the store was inspired by the “Queen of Pin-ups” and Nashville native Bettie Page, the boutique on Broadway wasn’t the company’s first location. The first Bettie Page Clothing store opened in Las Vegas in 2006.

However, one year after opening in Music City, Bettie Page Clothing lost the right to use Page’s name and image and rebranded as “Tatyana.”

Today, the Estate of Bettie Page manages an online clothing store with dresses, shoes, hand bags, accessories, and other fashion inspired by the late Nashvillian. One of the latest items to hit the shop is a “Bettie Page Day” poster for Saturday’s historical marker dedication.
