Today’s Note

Please excuse our dust. We’re currently working to bring you an even better newsletter. Over the next couple weeks, you may see some things that are still in the works. We’re excited for you to see what we’ve been up to.

Special Message
Our hearts ache with the rest of the Nashville community following the shooting at The Covenant School yesterday. A vigil will be held near Mt. Juliet’s city clock tower (located at the corner of Mt. Juliet Road and Division Street) tonight at 6:30 p.m. Community members can also donate to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s Caring for Covenant Fund.

Maybe you have some extra time on your hands, or maybe you’re just in the giving spirit. Wherever your interests lie, there’s a nearby volunteer opportunity for you. Here are 40 ways to get involved in Music City.

If you’re interested in healthcare

American Red Cross Tennessee Region | Help others become CPR and first aid certified, aid in disaster relief, or volunteer your time for blood services across the city. Opportunities fall under six different categories.

Nashville CARES | Volunteers assist programs across nutrition, fundraising, education, administration, special events, and the clinic to support the mission to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic across Middle Tennessee. A minimum of a six-month time commitment is required and the number of hours you serve are up to you.

If you’re an animal lover

Nashville Wildlife Conservation Center | Help transport injured animals to the wildlife hospital, join the education team to inform the community about our wildlife neighbors (Friday and Saturday volunteers are especially in need), or help rehabilitate injured wildlife.

Nashville Zoo | One-time and long-term volunteers are needed for special events hosted by the zoo, as well two opportunities for education volunteers in the Docents and ZooTeens programs.

For the outdoorsy type

Tennessee State Parks | A variety of opportunities include maintenance and construction of trails, campground hosting, and signage projects.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville | Volunteers can work on a Habitat build site, teach a class in the Homeowner Academy, or spend time at the ReStore.

Weekend plans? While being closed during COVID, Arrington Vineyeard renovated its Tasting Lodge, and it’s now reopened to the public.

The vineyard’s Tasting Bar Experience guides one to four guests through a tasting of six award-winning wines (two-ounce pours) — curated to the guest or group’s preferences — in the relaxed lodge. Bonus: Guests take home a Riedel wine glass afterward. The experience is $40 for general guests or $30 for Wine Club members ($10 deposit goes toward cost).*
