We all know that Nashville has a vibrant art scene — and we’re not just talking about the Frist Art Museum. One of our all-time favorite galleries? Music City itself.
The 615 is home to a number of meaningful murals. Today, we’re sharing where to find pieces that really paint a picture of our city.

“Dolly Parton,” Acme Feed & Seed (corner of 1st Avenue and Broadway) | By Mackenzie K. Moore
The portrait of the Tennessee queen debuted in fall of 2022 (facing 1st Avenue and the Cumberland River) and features one of Dolly’s famous lines, “If you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain.”
This mural was unveiled during Titans kickoff week in 2020, incorporating augmented reality technology to create a more interactive fan experience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nashville will launch a six-month “non-law enforcement” mental health crisis response pilot next week. Responders Engaged and Committed to Help pairs a Mental Health Cooperative clinician with a Nashville Fire Department captain to address behavioral health concerns. (Main Street Nashville)

A new pop-up exhibit will take over the Parthenon from Friday, Feb. 24 to Sunday, Feb. 26. “See You Me” is a collaborative exhibition between supermodel and singer-songwriter Karen Elson and photographer Emily Dorio featuring large-scale photographs, Super 8 footage, and mixed media sculpture.
History
Speaking of murals, a new one covers Meharry Medical College’s main library lobby. The floor-to-ceiling display highlights the timeline of how the school came to be, including the people that played a hand in it and artifacts. The public unveiling is set for Thursday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. (WTVF)

Cheekwood will open its new garden shop this spring — located at the entrance in Botanic Hall. Guests can expect home and garden decór, as well as gifts.
Sports
Slam dunk. Vanderbilt University officially broke ground on its new basketball operations facility — part of the $300 million Vandy United facilities initiative. It will house two practice gyms, offices, locker rooms, a weight room, and an athletic training room, among other features. (Nashville Post)
