If you’ve been out on the town lately, you may have noticed many new restaurants popping up. From a pretzel shop to a smash burger joint, there are plenty of new places to try on your next outing.

The next time you’re at a fork in the road and need a recommendation, use this roundup of five new eateries in the 615 as a checklist.

Mimo Restaurant and Bar, 100 Demonbreun St.
  • Italian-inspired cuisine meets southern influences at the Four Seasons Hotel Nashville’s flagship restaurant. The eatery — helmed by Michelin-starred chef Aniello “Nello” Turco — is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, so you can truly dine in for any meal.
Pinky Ring Pizza, 414 Gallatin Pk. S.
  • Pinky Ring Pizza opened in Madison two weeks ago, and its New York-style specialty pies (slices + whole pizzas) are already a hit. Owner Don Hernandez and Executive Chef Wes Scoggins have big plans for the restaurant — Sunday specials, an expansive list of nonalcoholic drinks, and fresh onsite herbs and produce.
Xiao Bao, 830 Meridian St.
  • If you see the bright red strawberry out front, you’re in the right place. The restaurant in East Nashville’s McFerrin Park neighborhood features dishes like hand-pulled noodles, okonomiyaki, and bao buns.

Cledis, 1011 Elm Hill Pk.
  • Come for the burgers, stay for the beer garden. Specialty smash burgers are the main attraction at chef and restaurateur Shane Nasby’s new concept. Be sure to keep up with the restaurant’s Instagram to see how various burgers — like the Georgia Caprese — are made.
FatBelly Pretzel, 921 Gallatin Ave.
  • FatBelly Pretzel’s new brick-and-mortar doubles as a bakery and deli. On the bakery side of things, it serves pretzel danishes, pretzelcrunch cookies, and stuffed pretzels. If you’re in the mood for a hearty sandwich, try the ever-popular FBP Muffuletta, or see the board for daily specials.
This list is only a handful of the latest eateries, so if there’s another spot we should try next, let us know.

What would you do locally with $1.9 billion?

Powerball hits $1.9 billion

A record Powerball jackpot will go even higher tonight without a winner on Saturday.

In November 2016, a $144 million winning ticket was purchased in Antioch. Three years later, a ticket sold in Hendersonville was claimed for $198 million. Think lightning could strike the Nashville area again? (Actually, the odds of getting struck by lightning are one in about 15,000, as opposed to the Powerball’s one in 292 million.)

The upfront cash option would total $929.1 million. We can think of a few ways to spend that money...
  • Tennessee’s most expensive home, for starters: $50 million in Belle Meade
  • All of the most expensive musical memorabilia ever sold, including Kurt Cobain’s $8 million guitar and Ringo Starr’s $3 million drum kit
  • 30,970,000 shows at Ryman Auditorium
  • 77,425,000 Hattie B’s jumbo tender baskets
Maybe our imagination just isn’t big enough. What would you spend your winnings on? Let us know.

Editor’s pick: In case you missed it, Elliston Place Soda Shop recently debuted a new food truck — a meat-and-three on wheels, if you will. We spotted it last week at Street Eats. 👀
