East Nashville’s Overlord is closed... for now. The European-style bar was sold to new owners, according to previous owner Melvil Arnt. The bar’s name and menu will change, though the decor is expected to remain the same. Stay tuned for more info.
Vendor applications are now open for the 2023 Tomato Art Fest (Aug. 11-12). Artists, food trucks, and artisan businesses are encouraged to apply by Monday, April 3. 🍅
Community
Nashville dedicated a new historical marker celebrating the city’s Kurdish community. The marker — located near the Salahadeen Center off Nolensville Pike — recognizes the five decades of Kurdish immigration to the city and the 20,000 Kurds who call Nashville home.
Open
The Pharmacy Burgeropens today inside the Nashville International Airport (past the north checkpoint). The local burger joint’s airport spot offers familiar items and new breakfast bites. (Nashville Business Journal)
Bonchon, a restaurant specializing in Korean-style fried chicken, opened its first Tennessee location in Smyrna — 578 Sam Ridley Pkwy. W. The Dallas-based chain also has Murfreesboro and Franklin locations in the works.
Concert
Nickelback announced a new tour and it includes a stop at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday, Aug. 1. The rock band will be joined by supporting acts Brantley Gilbert and Josh Ross. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. 🎤
The Ryman Auditoriumannounced three shows yesterday, including comedian Trey Kennedy (Friday, June 30), rock band Kansas (Friday, Aug. 18), and singer-songwriter Stephen Sanchez (Friday, Nov. 17).
Film
Roll out the red carpet. The Belcourt Theatre will host its annual A Red Carpet Evening on Sunday, March 12. The event includes food and drinks, a silent auction, a backstage lounge, and the opportunity to watch the 95th Academy Awards on the Belcourt’s big screens.

NPT’s Minnie Pearl doc in theaters Feb. 6

A new film honoring the life and legacy of comedian Sarah Cannon — known and beloved by many as Minnie Pearl — will screen nationwide and at local Regal theaters one day only on Monday, Feb. 6.
“Facing the Laughter: Minnie Pearl” is a full-length documentary about the Opry legend. The film from Nashville Public Television includes never released audiotapes and rarely seen archival footage, as well as interviews with Amy Grant, Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Paul Rubens (Pee Wee Herman), and more.
Watch “Facing the Laughter: Minnie Pearl” at 100 Oaks, Green Hills, and Opry Mills. Screenings will be offered at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Reserve tickets.
