A new “smart parking” program will replace the city’s coin-operated parking meters following approval from Metro Council. The new meters, which are expected to be installed in the coming months, will accept cash and credit payments via text, app, and QR code. 💳 (The Tennessean)

Ampersand Studios, a Miami-based company offering flexible coworking spaces, is coming to the 1030 Music Row office building. The space will span 26,120 sqft and is expected to open in summer 2023. (Nashville Post)
Traffic
Road work to replace the Broadway Viaduct — the bridge over 11th Avenue and the CSX railroad — is expected to begin by the end of the year. TDOT anticipates a fall 2023 completion date, with a full closure slated for Wednesday, July 5-Tuesday, Sept. 1. Stay tuned for updates. 🏗️ (Nashville Post)

It’s a “Miracle on Gallatin Avenue.” That’s the name of Pearl Diver’s forthcoming holiday pop-up bar — opening on Monday, Nov. 21. Similar to last year, expect themed cocktails and over-the-top decorations. In the words of Pearl Diver, “Trust us when we say this year will be even bigger and better.”
Sports
The Nashville Sounds announced start times for all 75 home games next season. The team will open at home against the Louisville Bats on Friday, March 31 at 6:35 p.m. — the start time for most games. Exceptions include Sunday games + the Independence Day matchup against the Columbus Clippers.
Watch
Lights, camera, Spielberg. In conjunction with Steven Spielberg’s new film “The Fablemans,” the Belcourt Theatre will screen six additional films by the director. Tickets are now on sale for “E.T.,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” and “Catch Me If You Can,” among others. 👽

Introducing Lawson Lightning — Metro Schools’ newest mascot

MNPS announced the mascot, school colors, and alma mater for Bellevue’s James Lawson High School — also known as Lawson High School — scheduled to open in time for the 2023-2024 school year. Say hello to the Lawson Lightning. 👋
With help from pro athletes Mark Borowiecki, Corey Levin, and Walker Zimmerman, officials also unveiled the school colors: midnight navy blue, Columbia sky blue, and sunny yellow. Watch the full announcement. Here are some fast facts about the school:
The campus, which will replace Hillwood High School, spans 273 acres off of I-40 in Bellevue.
The district voted last year to name the school after civil rights leader and Vanderbilt alum Rev. James Lawson.
The $150 million project broke ground in May 2021.
