Before you can rock the vote, rock the vote, baby — we’ve got to make sure you’re registered. National Voter Registration Day is just five days away (Tues., Sept. 20), and whether you’re a seasoned voter or it’s your first year at the ballot box, we want to make sure you’re prepared when it’s time to hit the polls in Nashville.

Dates to note

  • Tues., Oct. 11 | Voter registration deadline
  • Tues., Nov. 1 | Deadline to request an absentee ballot
  • Tues., Nov. 8 | State and federal general, Belle Meade, Forest Hills, and Goodlettsville municipal Election Day

What you need to register

If you’re registering online, you’ll need a Tennessee driver’s license or Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security ID.

If you don’t have either of these things, you can still print the voter registration form and mail it to your local election office (find that address here).

As a friendly reminder, in order to be eligible to vote in the State of Tennessee, voters must:
  • Be a US citizen
  • Be a resident of Tennessee
  • Be at least 18 years old on Election Day
Eligibility to vote may differ for citizens convicted of felonies based on the crime and date of conviction. Read more about restoring your voting rights here.

Thistle and Rye opens in Conrad Nashville

A gif of the NASHtoday editors making Thistle and Rye's Hermitage cocktail.
Florals for fall — truly groundbreaking. | Gif by NASHtoday
One of Nashville’s newest hotels has officially opened its second restaurant concept. Beverage-centric Thistle & Rye started serving up vibrant cocktails and globally-inspired small plates last week on the third floor of Midtown’s Conrad Nashville.

NASHtoday’s picks: The Hermitage (the smoky lilac number you see being made in the video above) + the KFC Korean Fried Cauliflower.

The 13+ specialty cocktails you see on the menu are inspired by the era of time in which they are categorized. The Hermitage (made with Empress, Cointreau, St-Germain, lemon juice, and lemongrass) is an elevated take on the lemon drop, a drink that rose to popularity in the Dark Ages.
THE WRAP
Today’s edition was written by Skylar.
Editor’s pick: We’ve never done this before, but today’s piece on Thistle & Rye has me thinking... where would y’all like to see me + Dylan head to next? Maybe it’s a new restaurant, a tried and true favorite you just haven’t visited, or a different business entirely.
We want to be your guide — so, we’re putting you in the driver’s seat. Send your pick our way, and we just might visit it and give you our recs in an upcoming newsletter.
