Maybe you have some extra time on your hands, or maybe you’re just in the giving spirit. All we know is there are more than enough great causes in Nashville to give your time to. Whether you’re an animal lover, an artsy type, a natural mentor, or a healthcare enthusiast — there’s a nearby volunteer opportunity for you. Here are 29 ways to get involved in Music City.

Natural-born teachers + mentors

Nashville Adult Literacy Council | Volunteers are trained and matched with English language learners and literacy learners for virtual one-on-one tutoring. All matches are based on availability and other preferences.

United Way’s Raise Your Hand | Tutors work in classrooms after school with teachers to assist students in first through fourth grades needing extra attention in reading and math. The program serves Williamson County Schools, Franklin Special School District, and Robertson County Schools.

If you’re interested in healthcare

Nashville CARES | Volunteers assist programs across nutrition, fundraising, education, administration, special events, and the clinic to support the mission to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic across Middle Tennessee. A minimum of a six-month time commitment is required and the number of hours you serve are up to you.

Alive | Support Middle Tennessee’s hospice community via opportunities across a variety of specializations like hair styling, bedside music, and storytelling.

For the outdoorsy types

Hands on Nashville | This organization supports more than 200 nonprofits, civic agencies, and schools with a specific program dedicated to disaster relief as a partner for volunteer activation and management in Metro Nashville’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.

Tennessee State Parks | A variety of opportunities include maintenance and construction of trails, campground hosting, and signage projects.

Good morning, NASH — new voice here. My name is Ryan Johnston and I am the CEO of 6AM City, the parent company and publisher of NASHtoday. First, thank you for waking up with us every morning and looking to our City Editors, Dylan and Skylar, to help you start your day and get excited about everything Nashville has to offer.

We launched NASHtoday on April 5, 2021 and we couldn’t be more thrilled at how this city has taken to us. We now wake up with 42,391 readers and reach 12,654 people via social media — a big step up from day one.

We built this product based on both reader and advertiser demand. Readers like you were looking for a quick and convenient way to find everything in one place — focused on all things positive and written in a way that is digestible — and (in an effort to keep our product 100% free to readers) we work with advertisers who want to connect with readers like you.

We have a number of different opportunities to advertise directly in this newsletter — find out more by clicking on the link below.
