How to provide input on Nashville’s East Bank planning study

East Bank Planning Study

Nashville is seeking feedback on its plans to redevelop 300+ acres of the East Bank. | Map by Metro Nashville

The city is moving forward with plans to redevelop the East Bank, meaning the waterfront district you see today could look much different in a few years.

What is the East Bank Planning Study?

The multi-month study will help city leaders decide how to redevelop 338 acres between the Cumberland River and I-24 from just north of the I-24 bridge to Jefferson Street.

At this stage in the planning process, officials are seeking ideas from residents that will influence future development, infrastructure projects, parks and greenways, and other land use projects in the area.

The goal is to redevelop the city’s land in a way that complements downtown + builds on the unique qualities of East Nashville and the waterfront area. Design firm Perkins Eastman will oversee the master plan before it goes to Metro Council later this year.

Other waterfront developments to watch

Earlier this year, we told you about tech giant Oracle’s plan to invest $1.2 billion in a 60-area campus along the Cumberland River. That project accounts for nearly half of the overall 125-acre River North development that will bring a new pedestrian bridge connecting Germantown to East Nashville and a greenway park to the area.

The Tennessee Titans are also working with city officials to transform 100 acres around Nissan Stadium into an entertainment district complete with green space, housing, retail, restaurants + more.
